Fog, Fog, and Project Life

We have had a LOT of fog the last week, and we are now under a fog advisory for tonight through noon tomorrow. This is how is looked Thursday morning when I left for work.

It's been a busy week at work. With my helper,  Hope, gone on medical leave, I am finding myself running in circles. Having taken over supervision of a new department is a bit stressful as well, though they are a very good group.

Tuesday night I went out with my friend Susan. Her husband passed away in October, and Tuesday was his birthday. So to toast Dennis, we went to Margarita's, had a great visit, as well as dinner and a couple of margaritas. This was over several hours folks, so no, I didn't drink and drive. The margaritas had worn off by the time I headed home.

Isn't the devastation from the earthquake in Haiti horrendous? Please donate whatever you can to help them...such a sad, sad situation!

Today I took mom shopping with her Christmas money. We bought her a new coat at Burlington Coat Factory, and a new pair of pajamas, baby powder and lipstick at Kmart. However, we picked up the wrong size of PJ's, so I'll be exchanging them this week. I forgot to take my camera, so I can't show you her new coat here, but it is black, with plaid flannel inside.

This weekend I am starting "Project Life" - a scrapbooking kit from Becky Higgins. Becky is a former contributor to Creating Keepsakes magazine, and after leaving the magazine last fall, came out with this kit for 2010. You may remember I tried to do Project 365 last year, and was only successful for about 6 months. This kit is so easy. It includes a beautiful 3-ring binder, and page protectors with pockets for journaling cards and artistic papers. All the cards and paper are included, and you just take one 4x6 photo per day, print it, stick it in a slot, do some journaling on a card, put it in a slot and you're done. It's not time consuming. The biggest problem I will have is taking a picture a day. I just have to remember to do it. So I'm keeping my camera with me all the time...Here are some photos of the kit:

And I can't end my post without showing this picture of Abby:

Abby is quite the "interesting" cat. Whenever you open a cabinet, a closet door, a dresser drawer, etc. - she has to check it out. When Corby opened the kitchen cabinet that holds our baggies and aluminum foil, Abby jumped right in...Crazy kitty!

I haven't posted a quote in quite a while, so here goes: "Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain." -- Unknown

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
