Almost Spring Break!

Five more days and my kids are coming home for Spring Break! The boys are coming home Friday afternoon after classes. Kaitlin has to work on Saturday, so won't be home until Sunday morning. The twins will be here for a week, while Brandon only took 5 days off work, so he'll go back Tuesday evening the 16th or Wednesday morning the 17th. Either way, all my ducklings will be home for a while!

Brandon will be 21 in May, and will be a senior at K-State in the fall. He's really matured over the last few years, and has pretty much "cut the ties" with mom and dad. He still loves to come home, just not as often. He still loves for us to visit him in Manhattan, but you can tell he's anxious to get on with the rest of his life. And I'm happy for him! That's why you raise your children with good values and common sense. I have to admit that I hope he gets a job in Wichita when he graduates. But I'm not holding my breath. At this point, I just want him to get a job where he's happy. If that's in KC, Dallas, Seattle, Miami, I say go for it! Love you son!

Kaleb has adjusted extremely well to college life. He still calls at least once a week to chat, and of course we keep in touch via Facebook and text messages. He's becoming quite the cook - I guess he gets that from his dad. I have access to the kids' checking accounts, so I can see where they spend their money. He rarely eats at fast food restaurants, but spends money at Dillons on groceries and tells us quite often what he's cooked for dinner. I love that about him. I'm so proud that he's holding his own in college, when it's so much different than high school. He's realized that he actually has to study for tests, which he didn't have to do at Heights. Kaleb, dad and I are very proud of you. You will go far! Love you bunches, my sarcastic son!

Kaitlin is my baby girl. While she is doing VERY well academically at K-State, her heart is still here in Wichita, with her family and her animals. I've already documented that she will be coming home in May and attending Wichita State in the fall. She is a very mature young lady, and has been for quite a while. She never got into the "gotta be like everyone else" mode, and has always been true to her heart. I am so glad she is coming home, and we will cherish the time we have left with her before she moves on to the next phase of her life. Love you baby girl!

Can you tell I'm thinking about my kids today? Some days are easier than others, but I still truly miss them each and every day! I'm not sure what I would do if I wasn't able to keep in touch with them through Facebook, cell phones and text messaging. It's a beautiful world we live in!

Hard to believe they are so grown up, i remember the times when Aunt RARA sat on the floor and played with them. They are growing up so fast.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
